Russell Earl Byrum

Mr. Russell Earl Byrum, beloved husband of 51 years, to Susan “Diane” Byrum died Thursday November 5, 2020 in Tennessee, surrounded by his family. Mr. Byrum was 75 years of age.

Born June 16, 1945, in Franklin, Kentucky, son of the late Henry Luther and Rebecca Elizabeth (Jones). A Vietnam War veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, he served with honor in the United States Marine Corp. After his service, Mr. Byrum returned to Franklin, Kentucky, married the love of his life, Diane and attended Bowling Green Vocational School where he mastered the art of carpentry.

Russell will be remembered most affectionately as a man devoted to God, mindful and generous, respectful and always appreciative of others. Lovingly remembered by his children, Susan (Randall) Locklin of Massachusetts, Dana G. Byrum of Kentucky, grandchildren, Russell (Simone) Caudill, of Illinois, Sarah Anne (Kahlil) Calavas of Massachusetts, Denae Groves of Kentucky, Brooke Byrum of Kentucky, five great-grandchildren, his caring sister and brother, Barbara (Aubrey) Johnson of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Lawrence Dale Byrum of Franklin, Kentucky. Mr. Byrum is predeceased by his sister, Marylin Moore and his brother, Wayne Byrum.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home, Franklin, Kentucky. Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Monday, November 9, 2020 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Russell’s funeral will be held at 2:00 PM with burial to follow at Sulphur Spring Cemetery in Simpson County, Kentucky.
