Mr. Michael “Mike” Carter, age 68, of Franklin, KY, passed away, Saturday, November 14th, 2020 at 8:24 AM at Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home, Franklin, KY. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 16th, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 from 6:00 AM until funeral service time. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial to follow at Providence Cemetery in Simpson County.
Mike was born on September 6th, 1952 in Franklin, KY to the late Jesse Lee “Jake” Carter and Mary Frances Shepard Carter. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, David Carter and Mark Carter.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa D. Carter; 2 children, Michael Douglas Carter II (Samantha) of Columbus, IN, Matthew David Carter (Darby) of Franklin, KY; 3 step-children, Ashley Geske of St. Paul, MN, Bethany Geske of Thief River Falls, MN, Kurtis Geske of Franklin, KY; 3 grandchildren, Jackson, Jake and Jocelyn Carter; and 2 step grandchildren, Blake Chervstad and Zachary Emberton.
Mike was a 1970 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Simpson County. Mike was the owner of the Lone Wolf Truck, which he pulled in the Mid-South Puller Association and the Kentucky Tractor Pullers Association and he formerly pulled tractors. He was a former member and President of Franklin Country Club. Mike was a farmer, it was his passion, he loved to farm. He also loved to play golf and to go hunting.
