Mrs. Mavis Brown, age 85, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home, Franklin, KY. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 15th, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin, KY.
Mavis was born on December 23, 1934 in Stewart County, TN to the late Walter Lee Barnes and the late Emma Pearl Watkins. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Clifford Leo “Tiger” Brown, and Timothy “Timmy” Brown, 4 brothers, WC Barnes, Howard “Barney” Barnes, Luther Barnes, Norman “Slick” Barnes, and 3 sisters, Mildred Grace, Joann Wallace, Martha Taylor.
She is survived by son, Ronnie Brown (Shirley Brown) of Franklin, KY, daughter, Lela “Sissy” Lawson (Randell) of Portland, TN, son, Billy Joe Brown (Anita) of Franklin, KY, son, James Brown (Donna) of Franklin, KY, son, Tommy Brown (Robin) of Franklin, KY, daughter, Lisa “Loulou” Garrett (John) of Franklin, KY.
30 plus grandchildren, 60 plus great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild
2 sisters, Juanita Gregory, Judy Acrey (Dave), 2 brothers Jimmy Barnes, Gary “Curly” Barnes (Brenda) all of Franklin, KY.
Mavis was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and listening to gospel music. She loved to watch “The Little House on The Prairie” on Tv, and taking care of her babies. Mavis loved caring for children and she was “Mamaw” to everyone.
