Laurette Brackin

Mrs. Laurette Brackin, age 92, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023 at her residence.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and will continue from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 18 at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18th at 11:00 AM. Mrs. Brackin’s wishes are to be cremated.

Laurette was born on February 5, 1931 in Allen County, KY to the late Luther Webster Harrell and the late Zula (Perry) Harrell. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Brackin; daughter, Theresa Petrich; and granddaughter, Ladonna Petrich.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Lucy Estes of Franklin, KY; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Corbin, and Maddox; 1 sister, Patsy Absher of Nashville, TN; one special son in-law, Gregg Petrich of Franklin, KY; 1 niece, Tana Kimbro; and 2 nephews, Webster Hamilton and Randy Hammock.

Laurette was a member of Franklin Community Church, a retired teacher’s aid of Simpson County Public Schools, and was one of the initial managers of KFC when it first opened in Franklin, KY. She was known as Ma’ Brack, Granny, GaGa, and Laurdy to the various people in her life. Laurette had a passion for taking care of those the she loved; she helped out many friends and children in her lifetime. She also loved her UK Wildcats basketball.
