Mr. James Paul Stewart, age 90, of Portland, TN, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 at the Sumner County Regional Hospital in Gallatin, TN.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Franklin, KY. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 26th from 6:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Franklin, KY with interment to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, 201 North Russell Street in Portland, TN.
James was born on February 1, 1933 in Sumner County, TN to the late Burvin Stewart and the late Louise Jacobs Stewart. He was the husband of the late Remona Ann Stewart. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Carol Carver; a grandson, Jason Dewayne Carver; and 4 siblings.
He is survived by 2 children, Michael Wayne Stewart of Franklin, KY and Pamela Stewart Carver of Portland, TN; 1 grandson, Brandon Stewart; a brother, Melvin Stewart of Portland, TN; a sister, Florence Lyle of Portland, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
James was a member of Liberty General Baptist Church in Franklin, KY. He was a retired farmer and factory worker at Imperial in Portland, TN. James loved to being outdoors and mow grass.
