Obituary

Mrs. Creola Odelle Davenport, age 92, of Martinsville, IN, formerly of Franklin, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Grand Valley Health and Rehab in Martinsville, IN.

Creola was born March 7, 1930 in Lafayette, TN, to the late George Robert “Bob” Thaxton and the late Stella Mae Huff Thaxton.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James Edward Davenport.  Creola was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, Jack Thaxton, Howard Curtis Thaxton, Raymond Thaxton, Douglas McArthur Freeman and Billy Wayne Freeman and a grandson, Chad Michael Hankins.

She is survived by 4 children, James Larry Davenport (Rosie) of Glasgow, KY, Carol Sue Hayden of Martinsville, IN, Milton Ray Davenport (Pamela) of High Ridge, MO and Melvin Glenn Davenport (Cherie) of New Smyrna Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, James O. Thaxton of Tucson, AZ; a half-brother, Charles Randall Freeman of Franklin, KY; and 2 half-sisters, Juanita Faye Gibbs of Indianapolis, IN and Shirley Clowers of Franklin, KY.

Creola was of the Pentecostal faith and was a homemaker.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 30th 2022 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory.  Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
