Barbara Ann Thornton

Mrs. Barbara Ann Thornton, age 84 of Franklin, KY, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 6:59 PM at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Franklin Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, November 8, 2019 and from 6:00 AM until funeral service time on Saturday at the Franklin Church of Christ.

A native of Portland, TN, she was born October 30, 1935 to the late Willie Thurman “Jack” Freedle and the late Mable Bracken Freedle.  She was the wife of the late Herbert Leon Thornton.

She is survived by 6 daughters, Robbie T. Ferreri and her husband Giovanni of Franklin, KY, Gail Ladd and her husband Wayne of Franklin, KY, Debbie Thornton of Franklin, KY, Susie Sablesak and her husband Bill, of Franklin, KY, Cindy Patterson and her husband Kelly of Franklin, KY and Bonnie Mitchell and her husband Bill of Nashville, TN, a son David Thornton and his wife Elizabeth of Nashville, TN.  8 grandchildren, Alex, Andrew and Geoffrey Patterson, Sabrina Ferreri, Lacy Utley, Ashley Deweese, Courtney Vick and Sara Hooten, 5 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Joe Freedle of Portland, TN, Bill Freedle of Franklin, KY and a sister Connie Anderson of Gallatin, TN.

Barbara was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ.  She and her husband were the founders of Friendly Furniture Company in Franklin, KY.
