William "Bill" Otis Sanders

Bill O. Sanders, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026, at the age of 74. A native of Tallahassee, FL, he was born on Tuesday, October 30th, 1951, in Macon, GA. William's life was marked by service, love, and dedication to his family and country.

Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he committed himself to the values of duty and honor. His service to the nation was a testament to his strong character and unwavering patriotism.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 16 years, Melissa Sanders, who stood by his side through life's journey. William was a loving father to five children: Mike Sanders (Shea) of Tallahassee, FL; Todd Sanders (Beth) of Georgia; Dalton Cowles (Lexi) of Tallahassee, FL; Hank Cowles of Morgantown, KY; and Lacy Keen (Kelci) of Franklin, KY. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Rodney Sanders, Jorja Sanders, Brayden Roberts, Madison Smith, Isaac Cowles, Owen Cowles, Eli Cowles, Olivia Cowles, and Karli Kyllonen.

William was preceded in death by his parents, William Holliday Sanders and Dorothy Rebecca (Owen) Sanders, whose love and guidance shaped the person he became.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Capital Heights Church, 7150 Apalachee Pkwy. in Tallahassee, FL. His cremated remains will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery, 5515 Apalachee Pkwy., in Tallahassee, FL on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM.
