Scott Forshee, 46, a lifelong resident of Franklin, passed away on June 28, 2017 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky after a courageous battle against colon cancer.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gilbert Funeral Home, Franklin, KY.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 3 PM – 9 PM and Friday, June 30, 2017 from 6 AM – 9 AM at Gilbert Funeral Home.  The body will lie in state at Franklin First Baptist Church from 10 am Friday morning until funeral services at 2 PM, with military rites and burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Franklin, KY.

Scott was born on August 21, 1970 to Susan Houchens (Jr) and Roger Forshee (Regina) who survive.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl & Louise Henderson Johnson, and paternal grandparents Virgil & Nettie Farmer Forshee.

Scott married his high school sweetheart, Suzanne Stanley Forshee, on December 23, 1989; they were married for more than 27 years. In addition to his wife, Scott leaves behind two children, James Isaac “Zac” Forshee, Seattle, Washington, and Leslie Allison “Allie” Forshee, Franklin; a sister Cayce Forshee Madison (Phillip) of Paducah, Kentucky.

He was a 1988 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School, and entered the United States Marine Corps in October of the same year.  He lovingly served his country for 5 years as an Avionics Technician, stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, Havelock, North Carolina, completing two overseas deployments to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan.

Scott was saved at the age of 16 on a Thursday evening during revival services at Drakes Creek Missionary Baptist Church.  He was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Woodburn, Kentucky, where he faithfully served his church family as Sunday School Superintendent and Song Leader and was ordained as a Deacon in 2006.

In his secular life, he worked in supply chain management, most recently at Fruit of the Loom, in Bowling Green, Kentucky for the last 8 years.

Scott loved being outdoors, and enjoyed coaching youth sports.  His favorite outdoor pastimes included golfing, kayaking, hiking, and spending time with his family at the beach.  He was a member of Franklin Country Club, and an avid fan of University of Kentucky basketball.
