Mrs. Sarah Frances "Sissy" Johnson, age 89, of Franklin, KY, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 8:19 AM.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will continue on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, with funeral services beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
Sissy was born on July 23, 1935, in Simpson County, KY to the late Thurman Morgan Hall and the late Nannie Norine (White) Hall. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benjamin Vick "Benny" Johnson.
She is survived by three children, Jill Kelly (David) of Franklin, KY, Sina Kelley (Kent) of Franklin, KY, and Kyle Johnson (Elissa) of Crestwood, KY; seven grandchildren, Klay Kelley (Taylor), Morgan Gassaway (Chad), Mallory Cline (William), Kendra Bane (Dillon), Sam Johnson, Will Johnson, and Boone Johnson; and six great-grandchildren.
Sissy was a 1953 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School. She was a longtime employee of Simpson County Schools, where she served as secretary at Franklin-Simpson Junior High, Franklin-Simpson Elementary, and Franklin-Simpson Middle School. Her steady presence and quick wit left a lasting impression on countless students and faculty over the years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and a previous active member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Simpson County, serving in numerous leadership roles, including past president. In recognition of her dedication and service, she was inducted into the Franklin-Simpson BPW Hall of Fame in 2011.
Spirited, strong-willed, and full of life, Sissy was devoted to her family and loved being part of her community. She especially enjoyed time spent on her front porch, catching up with friends and neighbors, sharing stories, laughter, and the simple joys of everyday life. To know her was to experience her unmistakable charm, her feisty sense of humor, and her deep and enduring love for those closest to her.
She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who were lucky enough to be part of her world.
