Peggy Holman Farley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on a beautiful Sunday, September 29th, 1940, in the countryside of Simpson Co., KY, Peggy was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew her.
Peggy was the devoted daughter of the late Jesse O’Neal Holman and Gladys Marie (Dorris) Holman. She was also predeceased by her husband, Richard Wayne Farley, with their committed marriage of 64 years, and her brother, Ronald Jeff Holman.
A 1958 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School, Peggy furthered her education at Hopkinsville Community College, focusing on accounting. She dedicated many years of her professional life as the bookkeeper for the Simpson County Clerk's Office and a bank teller at Franklin Bank & Trust Co., where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her genuine care for her clients.
Peggy's life was rich with passions and interests. She was an avid gardener, cultivating vegetables & canning many of them, along with flowers beds for her cats to prowl & her dogs to sniff. She was a voracious reader, a seamstress, a bird-watcher, a southern cook extraordinaire, & a grand story teller. A nature lover & outdoor person all the way around, she enjoyed spontaneous picnics with her family, hiking woods & streams, and camping.
She always looked forward to her yearly vacations with her husband & family, to travel to new destinations & just anywhere beside water, especially the ocean. Additionally, she operated a successful real estate business, managing rental properties & forming strong bonds with her tenants, many of whom consider her family, she is so loved.
Peggy is survived by her four children: Kevin Michael Farley of Franklin, KY; David Wayne Farley of Wyandotte, MI; Susan Elizabeth Farley Daleure of Franklin, KY; and Scott Clark Farley of Black Mountain, NC. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Caroline Few, Sam Duczer, Elizabeth Thornberry, and William Thornberry.
The family invites friends and loved ones to a visitation at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory in Franklin, KY, on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice of Southern KY, 5872 Scottsville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42104, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, both causes close to Peggy's heart.
