Melissa Dennis Wingfield

Melissa Dennis Wingfield, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away on April 28, 2026 after a lengthy illness.

She was born on December 29, 1973 in Franklin, KY to Hal and Laura Dennis.

She is survived by her children, Jeffery Wingfield (Jasmine), Ashleigh Wingfield, Krystin Bailey (Oren), her mother, Laura Birdwhistell, her sisters, Shelly Cline (Eugene), and Tracy Birdwhistell (Harry), all of North Carolina, and her aunt Judy Dennis Williamson of Russellville, KY. She was preceded in death by her father, Hal Dennis of Franklin, KY.

In her early years, she had a deep passion for horses and participated in both Western and English riding competitions throughout middle and high school. From a young age, she had a special connection with animals and a natural talent for art. In her adult life, she enjoyed collecting beautiful things—especially angels—and cherished spending quality time with friends.

A longtime resident of The Towers in Bowling Green, she was known as a kind neighbor and a loyal friend. She took great pride in her children and extended family. Though she faced many challenges throughout her life, she remained positive and resilient, finding joy in life’s simple moments. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Following a private service, her remains will be laid to rest in the Dennis family plot at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that those who wish to honor her memory consider making a donation to a local animal shelter, reflecting her lifelong love of animals.
