Marsha Jean Shouders Akin

On Wednesday morning, October 21st, 2026, Marsha Jean Shoulders Akin ran into the arms of Jesus. Marsha was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born on Friday, August 6th, 1948, in Franklin, KY. She passed away peacefully, with her daughters by her side, at the age of 78.

Marsha was a lifelong resident of Franklin, KY, deeply rooted in the community she loved. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Terri Stark Kelly (Ken) and Sherri Stark Goertz (John), both of Franklin, KY. Her legacy continues through her cherished granddaughters, Preslee Kelly Webb (John) of Franklin, KY, and Emma Kelly of Nashville, TN. Marsha is also survived by her dear sister, Shirley Claborn of White House, TN, along with several nieces and a nephew.

Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Eskey and Gracie (Crowder) Shoulders, her sister, Helen Rosdeutscher, and brother-in-law, Warren Rosdeutscher.

Marsha was a numbers person and worked as a bookkeeper for many years, but recently was found cleaning at The Grande. She mostly found joy in spending time with her daughters and granddaughters. She also loved sewing, cooking, and maintaining a tidy home.

Marsha was one of the founding members of LifePoint Church, and she loved her church family. Although she will be dearly missed on this Earth, she had a firm belief in salvation through Jesus Christ, and she looked forward to spending eternity with her family and friends in His presence.

Marsha's life will be commemorated with a memorial service on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory in Franklin, KY. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitations on Friday, October 23rd, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and again on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
