Marianne Marie (Terrell) Ellis

Mrs. Marianne Marie Ellis, age 88 of Franklin, KY, entered into rest Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Medical Center in Franklin, KY.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 6, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Mrs. Ellis was born November 25, 1929 in Simpson County, KY to the late Brennon Eltra Terrell and the late Mary Frances Holcomb Terrell.  She was the wife of the late John Thomas “JT” Ellis and preceded in death by a son John Wayne Ellis and a sister Martha Waldean Combs.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Lou London (Wayne), 2 sons Thomas Micheal Ellis (Vickie) and John William Ellis (Amy) all of Franklin, KY; a brother Buddy Terrell (Marie) and brother-in-law Rufus Combs; 6 grandchildren Jay Ellis, Jonathan Ellis, Josh London, Amanda Spears, Hanna Kirby and Chelsea Thompson; 16 great grandchildren Jaycie, Jacob, Jude, Annie and Abby Ellis, Harlin, Nolin and Ava Deweese, Jordyn London, Ellie Jo, Chloe Ann and Ali Cooper Kirby, Tanner and Rylie Spears, Laken and Ryley Thompson.

Mrs. Ellis retired from the Kendall Co. as a nurse for 25 years, a receptionist at the Ellis Auto Sales for 20 years and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Marianne graduated from Simpson County High School in 1947 where she loved her friends and being a majorette in the high school band.  She was married for 64 years to the handsome JT Ellis who served in the Navy in WWII.  He could set her red hair temper on fire when he teased her.  They raised their family in church with love and laughter.  She wanted everyone to call her “Nannie” and they did.  She loved to shop, cross-stitch, cook and most of all she loved to clean…everything!  She always wanted to make sure her hair looked good and loved to go places, but most of all she loved her family dearly.

Visitation will begin Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM Friday until funeral service time at Calvary Baptist Church.
