Leroy Glenn Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully at his home in Franklin, Kentucky on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on May 8, 1944, Leroy was a cherished member of the community and racing world.
Leroy was a proud member of the Franklin-Simpson High School class of 1963. After graduation, he bravely served his country in the Army, a contribution he carried with pride throughout his life. Leroy built a career as a Maintenance Technician at Peterbilt.
An avid drag car racer and car enthusiast, Leroy’s passion for vehicles was rivaled only by the kindness he showed to those around him. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Leroy is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Sally (Roderick) Brown, two sons Leroy Glenn Brown, Jr. of Cleburne, TX, and Micheal Bell (Brandy) of Franklin, KY; three daughters, Tracie Marlow (Tommy) of Franklin, KY, Tammy Gorman (Larry) of Cleburne, TX, and Leann Lutrich (Willie) of Franklin, KY; two brothers, Tony Brown (Kristie) and Ricky Brown (Rita), both of Franklin, KY. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his 31 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leroy was preceded in death by his father Roy Clifton Brown, his mother Gladys Evelyn (Durham) Brown, and his infant son, John Clifton Brown.
Visitation will be held at Gilbert Funeral Home in Franklin, KY, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 6:00 am until the time of service at 2:00 pm. A funeral service to honor Leroy's life will be conducted at Gilbert Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 2:00 pm with interment to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY with military rights given by the Simpson County Honor Guard. Following the service, a reception will be held in his memory at the Franklin Presbyterian Church, 201 North College Street, in Franklin, KY.
Pallbearers will include Joshua Glenn Bond, Jerry Ehrett, Elijah Brandolf, Willie Lutrick, Micheal Bell, and Tony Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Patrick Brandolf, Logan Bond, and the 1963 class of Franklin-Simpson High School.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at stjude.org in Leroy's memory. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
