Kenneth Ralph Metcalf, age 81 of Franklin, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 5:30 PM at Hospice House in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2018, with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

Mr. Metcalf was born December 23, 1936 in Merrillville, Indiana to the late Floyd Leo Metcalf and the late Blanche Eva King Metcalf. He is survived by his wife Patricia Anne Crownover Metcalf of 58 years.

Ken attended Valparaiso University on an athletic scholarship and graduated from David Lipscomb College in Nashville, Tennessee where he played basketball for the Bisons. He completed his graduate work at Western Kentucky University in education. He taught and coached basketball in Hart County, Kentucky, and in later years of his career was the principal and assistant superintendent in Simpson County, Kentucky.

Ken was a member of the Franklin Church of Christ where he attended for 40 years.  He enjoyed golfing with family, friends and associates of the Western Kentucky Educational Cooperative, and hanging out at Black's Auto Sales. He was a member and officer of the Franklin Lions Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Marsha (Philip) Garnett of Hopkinsville, his son Michael Metcalf of Auburn, his daughter Mary (Mark) Petersen of Fremont, Nebraska, 8 grandchildren Melanie (Mark) Evans of Bowling Green, Kenneth (Erica) Kington of Pembroke, Derek Hester of New York City, New York, Joshua Metcalf of Quantico, Virginia, Nicolas Metcalf of New York City, New York, Meredith Hester of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Mary Anne Garnett, Hopkinsville and Marlee Metcalf of Pensacola, Florida and 5 great-granddaughters, Bailey Kington, Kali Kington, Macy Kington and Eleanor Evans and Matilda Evans, 3 brothers, Robert Metcalf of Normal, Illinois, Dave (Helen) Metcalf of Merrillville, Indiana, and Jim (Belinda) Metcalf of Dothan, Alabama.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 and from 6:00 AM until 1:45 PM Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
