Joseph Jay Estep

Mr. Joseph “Joey” Jay Estep, age 66, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Thursday, August 14th, 2025 at 9:06 am at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 18th at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.

Joey was born June 26th, 1959 in Franklin, KY to the late J.P. Estep and the late Rosemary Prinz Estep. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Estep.

He is survived by three children, Cary Massey (Ricky), Hilary Blackburn (Josh), and Jay Estep; eight grandchildren, Molly Massey, Annie Massey, Harrison Massey, Elizabeth Blackburn, Andy Blackburn, Shelby Blackburn, Kenidee Estep and Adalyn Estes; a brother, John Estep; and several nieces and nephews.

Joey was a 1977 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School. He was a machine operator for Sealed Power, where he worked for more than 20 years. After retiring, Joey devoted some of his time to lawn care work. He enjoyed fishing, with a special fondness for crappie fishing, and was an avid horse enthusiast. Joey cherished time spent with his family and friends, and valued the time spent alongside his closest friends at the American Legion.
