Jerry Allen Ausbrooks, a cherished husband, beloved father, and respected community member, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026, at the age of 75 at his residence. Born on May 28th, 1951, in Simpson County, KY, Jerry spent his life surrounded by family and friends in Franklin, KY, where he left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.
Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Janice “Jan” Ausbrooks, and his children: Jimmy Ausbrooks of Lexington, KY, Jeremy Ausbrooks (Kathy) of Greenville, TN, and Matthew Ausbrooks (Kathy) of Scottsville, KY. He also leaves behind his step-daughter, Jessica Pitts (Cory) of Franklin, KY, and four precious grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. Jerry is additionally survived by his siblings, Sharlotte Williams of Glasgow, KY, Ricky Ausbrooks (Sue) of Franklin, KY, Pat Jackson (Doug) of Franklin, KY, Henry Ausbrooks (Janet) of Bowling Green, KY, and Mike Ausbrooks (Pam) of Scottsville, KY, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Tildie (Gann) Ausbrooks, and his sister, Kathy Burris, Jerry will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Jerry’s professional career was spent as a skilled tool maker with Titan Gages, where his dedication was valued greatly. His service to the nation in the Army was a testament to his character and commitment.
A man of varied interests, Jerry found great joy in fishing, playing golf, and traveling. He was a committed member and past president of the Simpson Benevolent Lodge, where he spent many years contributing to the community.
The community is invited to celebrate Jerry’s life during the visitation at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory in Franklin, KY, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 9th, 2026. A Masonic Service will take place on Sunday, August 9th at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, August 10th at 6:00 am until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Monday, August 10th, 2026, at 2:00 pm, also at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Pallbearers honoring Jerry’s memory will be Dennis Austin, Tim Meador, Terry Hale, Jason Ausbrooks, Chad Jackson, and Jameson Hutchinson.
