Janelle McGee

Janelle F. McGee, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished member of the Franklin community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on Tuesday, June 28th, 1955, in Franklin, KY, Janelle lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her community.

Janelle was a devoted educator, sharing her passion for learning with students across Simpson, Logan, and Warren Counties. She was the Deejay for several local radio stations, including WFKN Radio in Franklin, and WLBJ, WBVR, WCVK in Warren County, and WOVO in Glasgow. Her vibrant personality and commitment to her community earned her the title of BPW Young Career Woman of the Year in the 1970s.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Janelle was deeply involved in 4H and the Right to Life Movement. She enjoyed crocheting, playing the piano, and spent many fulfilling years as a counselor at Camp Joy in Brownsville, KY.

Janelle was preceded in death by her loving parents, Spencer Sol Finn and Eva (Spears) Finn; her devoted husband, George McGee; her sister, Janine Hicks; her grandson, David Kyle McGee and a brother-in-law, L.B. Chandler.

She is survived by her eight children: Jaclyn Milam of Franklin, KY, Jenna McGee of Red Granite, WI, Crystal McGee of Columbia, TN, Kim Voland of Wabash, IN, Kevin McGee of Hartsville, TN, Daryl McGee of Sterling Heights, MI, and Jerry McGee of Hardinsburg, KY. Janelle was a proud grandmother to 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Judy Chandler of Richpond, KY, Julian Finn (Debbie) of Franklin, KY, and Jeff Finn (Kathleen) of Lewisburg, KY; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory in Franklin, KY, on Friday, August 28th, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on Saturday, August 29th, 2026, from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location with burial to follow in Hillsdale Cemetery in Simpson County, KY.

Pallbearers honoring Janelle's life include Xakery Milam, Sawyer Milam, Joshua Finn, John Finn, Erik McGee, and Joshua Breward. Honorary pallbearers are Corey Akin and Kameron Akin.
