James "Jim" Moody

Mr. James “Jim” Moody, age 85 of Franklin, KY passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will continue on Sunday, September 17th, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church at 804 Church St. Franklin, KY 42134. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 17th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the church with interment to follow at Sulphur Spring Cemetery in Simpson County, KY with military honors performed by the Simpson County Honor Guard.
Jim was born on October 16, 1937 in Franklin, KY to the late Lloyd B. Moody Sr. and the late Odella (Jernigan) Moody. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jerry Moody and Lloyd B. Moody, Jr. and a baby-sister, Judy Ann Moody.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Sandra Moody of Franklin, KY; 1 daughter, Melissa Elmore (David) of St. Louis, Mo; 2 granddaughters, Dr. Taylor Carlson (Jacob) of St. Louis, MO and Hannah Elmore of St. Louis, MO; 1 brother, Bobby Joe Moody (Ginny) of Franklin, KY; 1 sister, Carolyn Moody of Franklin, KY; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his special cat, Boots.
Jim was a faithful member and past deacon of Calvary Baptist Church of Franklin, KY, a veteran of the United States Army, co-owner of Cleveland Plywood, and a 1955 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School. He was a “Jim of all trades” so to say, Jim enjoyed woodworking, doing yard work, and spending time with his family.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jim’s memory to Calvary Baptist Church of Franklin, KY, 804 Church St. Franklin, KY 42134. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home and the church.
