Glenda Faye Jones, a cherished member of the Franklin community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on November 21, 1953, in Kentucky, Glenda lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to her family and country.
Glenda was a proud graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School, class of 1971. Following her education, she embarked on a distinguished 25-year career as a Sergeant with the Kentucky Army National Guard. She was deployed to Saudi Arabia in 1990 during Operation Desert Storm. Her commitment to her country was further exemplified by her involvement in several veterans' organizations, including the American Legion Post #62, V.F.W. Post #5706, and AmVets Post #110.
Glenda's life was enriched by her many interests, including travel, car shows, and enjoying breakfast at Rylan’s Restaurant. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, who brought her immense joy and pride.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Helen Pearson (LJ) of Franklin, KY, and Clark Pearson (Nancy) of Auburn, AL, along with their children Bradley and Kate. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Freddie Perdue of Franklin, KY; a stepdaughter, Jamie Spugnardi (Nick) of Bowling Green, KY; two step-grandchildren, Chris Key (Mindy) and Allison Bemiss (Daniel); and four great-grandchildren. Her devoted niece, Melissa Carver, along with several other nieces, nephews, and cousins, will miss her dearly. Glenda's loyal feline companion, Princess, was a constant source of comfort and joy.
Glenda was preceded in death by her spouse, Bruce Jones; her mother, Helen B. Aton, and stepfather, Loyd Aton; her birth parents, Robert Gregory and Flossie Dee Gregory; her siblings, Ray Gregory, Mary Elizabeth Grace, Thelma Johns, William “Bob” Gregory, Patsy Andrews, twin sister Brenda Perdue, Joyce Carver, Betty Sue Toney, Jackie Gregory, Janie Buchanan, Don Gregory; her stepson, Scott Jones; and her nephew, Wesley Aton Pearson.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Veterans section in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY. Military honors will be provided by the Simpson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will include Clark Pearson, Craig Gray, Chris Perdue, Mark Perdue, Craig Coleman, Brock Perdue, Bradley Pearson, Elijah Bemiss, Caleb Key, Jonah Bemiss and Tyler Gray.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Blackjack Baptist Church PO Box 555, Franklin, KY 42135 and the Simpson Honor Guard PO Box 1043, Franklin, KY 42135, organizations that were close to Glenda's heart. Envelopes will be available at funeral home.
