George was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He loved the Lord, his church, and his family, particularly his grandchildren, who he doted on throughout his life. He was an entrepreneur and operated and ran Phillip 66 gas stations in Springfield, Tennessee until he moved to Franklin, Kentucky and opened Crabtree Furniture Company in 1968 which he ran for almost 50 years.
