David Charles Kitchens, age 72, of Franklin, KY, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY.
David was born on June 25, 1952 to the late Lenard Kitchens and the late Ora “Betty” Kitchens.
He attended Western Kentucky University but was a lifelong Kentucky basketball fan. In addition to cheering for the Cats, he was a New York Yankees and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fan. David played softball for several years in community leagues, coached Pee Wee League and Little League baseball and softball, and was an avid golfer. He was a past member of First Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. Classic cars were a lifetime passion. He attended many car swap meets and car shows with friends over the years. He retired from Kendall/Polyken after 47 years.
David is survived by his two children, Staci James (Don) of Louisville, KY and Kevin Kitchens of Atlanta, GA; and two grandchildren, Will and Katherine James.
The family wishes to thank his doctors, medical staff and Jean Harris for their care and support.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, July 25th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at The Red Barn at Crafton Farms, 209 Crafton Road, Portland TN 37148. A private graveside service will be held.
