Brooklyn Marie Embree

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brooklyn Marie Embree, a beloved daughter, sister, niece and friend. Brooklyn passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, at the age of 36, in Louisville, KY. She was born on Sunday, September 24th, 1989, in Atlanta, GA, and spent her formative years in Franklin, KY.

Brooklyn was a 2008 graduate of Franklin-Simpson High School, where she was known for her vibrant spirit.

Brooklyn was preceded in death by her father, John Embree; her maternal grandparents, J.E. and Clara Bull; and her paternal grandparents, John Henry and Marjorie Embree. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, April Embree of Mountainburg, AR. Brooklyn was proudly raised by Jim Brown and Katie Brown of Franklin, KY. Brooklyn is also survived by her four siblings, Natalie (Brian) Lawrence of Franklin, KY, Daniel Brown of Sarasota, Fl, Jovion Embree of Clarksville, TN and Jonathan Embree (Emerald) of Nashville, TN; three nieces, Audrey Lawrence, Jaymari Jones and Journee Embree; Special Friend, Danielle Shaffer (Hugh Joiner) and their daughter Amelia; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A funeral service to honor Brooklyn's life will be held at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory in Franklin, KY, on Sunday, January 11th, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with interment to follow in Providence Cemetery in Simpson County, KY. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10th from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Sunday, January 11th from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. She will be lovingly carried to her final resting place by pallbearers Brian Lawrence, Hugh Joiner, Danielle Shaffer, Daniel Brown, Mitch Embree, Mike Embree, Dale Embree, and Roger Embree.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory, 325 West Cedar Street, Franklin, KY 42134, to assist with funeral expenses.
