Brenda Darlene Satterly Waalkens, a cherished member of the Franklin, KY community, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on September 15, 1948, in Mooresville, IN, Brenda was known for her warm heart, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family.

A 1967 graduate of Mooresville High School, Brenda later pursued her passion in cosmetology, graduating in 2007. She had a fulfilling career as a tax preparer with H & R Block, where she worked for 26 years, providing invaluable service to her clients. Brenda was a member of the Homemakers Club and served as Co-Chair of the Franklin-Simpson Gulf War Support Group. Her dedication to her community was further demonstrated through her volunteer work.

Brenda had a talent for quilting and crocheting, often creating beautiful pieces for her grandchildren and others. She was an exceptional cook and seamstress, and she cherished the time spent surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she found solace and strength in reading her Bible.

Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Waalkens, who passed in 2022; her parents, Wade Junior Jones and Laura Gladys (Abrams) Jones; and her grandchildren, Isaiah Rafe Holman and Grace Loxlie Rose Holman.

She is survived by her six loving children: Scott Satterly (Vanessa), Todd Satterly (Pam), Travis Satterly (Michelle), Jennifer Holman (Kelly), Heidi Bell (Bobby), and Josh Satterly (Emily). Her legacy continues through her 22 grandchildren, Amber Frye (Ryan), Landon Satterly (Anne Hayden), Autumn Boards (TaMarcus), Ben Satterly (Hannah), Dillon Satterly (Kelli), Savanah Barnett (Kelby), Kaleb Satterly (Ellie), Noah Satterly, Sarah Satterly, Maggie Holman-Nahid (Abraham), Gage Holman, Josie Holman, Zane Holman, Naomie Holman, Quade “Hank” Holman, Tuff Holman, Cody Fleming (Ashley), Molly Hurt (Colton), Beau Fleming, Lake Bell, Hayden Satterly, Samuel Satterly; 18 great-grandchildren, Parker, Trapper, Ledger, Annie Jo, Rubie, Kaedi, Ryker, Everlee, Tillie Mae, Reed, Tate, Kai, Kalli, Ridge, Lottie, Sadie, Maren and Tatum who brought immense joy to her life. Brenda is also survived by her brother, Bill Jones (Claudia) of Danville, IN, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends during a visitation at Gilbert Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. A private family graveside service will be held for Brenda's children only. Brenda’s grandsons, Landon Satterly, Ben Satterly, Dillon Satterly, Kaleb Satterly, Noah Satterly, Gage Holman, Zane Holman, Hank Holman, Tuff Holman, Cody Fleming, Beau Fleming, Lake Bell, Hayden Satterly, and Sam Satterly, will serve as pallbearers, honoring her memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42104, in Brenda's memory.
