Mrs. Belva Marie Garcia, age 92, of Franklin, Kentucky peacefully passed away on January 26, 2026 at Signature Healthcare in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Belva’s final resting place will be with her husband Ismael Garcia at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego, California.
She is survived by her 2 children, Pamela & Andrew Garcia of Franklin, Kentucky & several nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Belva was born on September 3, 1933 in Gettysburg, South Dakota to Jay J. Brokaw & Alpha (Barrett) Brokaw.
She moved with her family to San Diego, California in 1940 when her father joined the war effort as an aircraft mechanic.
She graduated from Kearny High School in San Diego, California in 1951 & went to work in the aerospace industry at Convair.
Belva married Ismael Garcia, a U.S. Marine & artist illustrator on November 4, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was a stay at home mom in the 1960’s until her children were in school then re-entered the workforce as a teacher for the San Diego City Schools in the 1970’s & 80’s.
She retired from the civil service as a procurement clerk for the U.S. Navy in 1993 & moved to Kentucky with her family.
Belva worked at the Blue Moon Antique Market in Franklin, Kentucky with her family from 2001-2010. She helped her son, Andrew run a booth at the Nashville, Tennessee Flea Market from 2010-2020. She also volunteered with her daughter, Pamela at the Goodnight Memorial Library in Franklin Kentucky.
Belva greatly enjoyed meeting new friends, all types of outdoor activities, gardening, butterflies, walks with the family dog, music & writing poetry. She kept in touch with family & friends by long handwritten letters.
She was known as Belva, Mrs. G, Aunt Peanuts, Belva-Dear & Miss Belva. She was much loved by all & will forever live in our hearts and memories.
