Mr. William D. “Buddy” Harris age 83 of Franklin, KY, entered into rest Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee, FL.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 24, 2018 with burial to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY.
Mr. Harris was born June 10, 1934 in Franklin, KY. to the late William Huber Harris and the late Ester Adamson Harris. His sister Betty Engel preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Harris, 3 children Tami Harris Bradford (Steve) of Franklin, KY, Bart Harris (Anita) of Franklin, KY and Christi Harris Gossett (Mike) of White House, TN, 6 grandchildren Tyler Bradford (Kayla), Tanner Bradford, Matthew and Mackenzie Gossett , Jenny Harris and Rachel Perkins (Brett), 2 great grandchildren Presley and Reese Perkins.
Mr. Harris was a member of the Franklin First United Methodist Church, 50 year member of the New Salem Masonic Lodge #462 and 50 year member of the Eastern Star, member of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce and ASC Farm Service. He was past president of the local and the district Young Farmers Club and past president of the National Farmers Organization and was named a Kentucky Colonel in 1991. He served on the Simpson County School Board for 12 years. He was founder, broker and auctioneer at Franklin-Simpson Realty and Auction and a farmer.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, March 23, 2018 and from 6:00 AM until funeral service time on Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
